Washington Salon uses Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) systems within and around our premises for the purposes of safety, security, crime prevention, and the protection of staff, clients, and property. This is particularly important as we operate within a licensed venue.

Why We Use CCTV

CCTV is used for the following legitimate purposes:

  • To prevent and detect crime

  • To protect the safety of staff and clients

  • To protect our premises, equipment, and stock

  • To assist with incident investigation

  • To comply with licensing and legal obligations

  • To provide evidence to the police, local authorities, or courts where required

Legal Basis

CCTV footage is processed under the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018 based on our legitimate interests and legal obligations, including public safety and licensing requirements.

What We Record

CCTV may capture:

  • Images of people on our premises

  • Date and time of entry and exit

  • Activity within public areas of the salon

CCTV is not used in private areas such as toilets, treatment rooms, or staff changing areas.

How Footage Is Used

CCTV footage is only accessed when necessary, such as:

  • Investigating an incident

  • Dealing with complaints or disputes

  • Preventing or detecting crime

  • Meeting legal or licensing requirements

Footage is not used for monitoring staff performance unless related to safety or misconduct.

How Long We Keep Footage

CCTV footage is kept for a maximum of 30 days, unless:

  • It is required for an ongoing investigation

  • It has been requested by police or legal authorities

In these cases, footage will be kept until the matter is resolved.

Who Can See the Footage

Access is restricted to:
